Aprilia Scarabeo 150

Scarabeo 150

The first “automatic motorbike”: safe, easy and versatile.

APRILIA SCARABEO 150

In a market context characterised by a growing offer of maxi-scooters, Aprilia has opted to develop a vehicle able to integrate the typical advantages of the scooter with the riding pleasure and safety of motorbikes with large diameter wheels. A scooter that can be considered as the first light automatic motorcycle on the market.

What's in a name: SCARABEO

For the ancient Egyptians, a sacred creature and good luck charm, so the Scarabeo is also “sacred” for Aprilia. The name Scarabeo was, in fact, given to the first motocross 50 cc produced by Ivano Beggio at the end of the 1960s.

A dream for youngsters of the time, but also the start of a great dream which has today come true. A name which has helped make history for Aprilia and continues to do so today, now identifying a precise concept of urban mobility – a “large diameter wheel” scooter, a vehicle which more than any other has determined an important turning point in the evolution of the motor scooter.

Rivers of ink have been dedicated to the success of this product and, as a result, the name “Scarabeo” has gone beyond gratifying sales targets to become a genuine lifestyle phenomenon.

Today Scarabeo identifies a style, a choice, a complete range of large diameter wheel scooters in five capacities (50/100/125/150/200 cc) and in different versions (two-stroke, Ditech, four-stroke) to satisfy all about-town mobility needs and boasting an original and exclusive charisma. [Note that not all of these models are available in the US yet]

The personality of the Scarabeo has become so well established that it now has a life of its own, identifying a product, a lifestyle and exclusiveness, with an ever stronger and better known identity.

New versions, style and technological updates, ever more avant-garde versions setting the standards for the entire sector – Scarabeo continues to grow, reinforcing its identity and offering new solutions for styles, needs and mobility requirements.

Aprilia has fitted the Scarabeo 150 with 16” alloy wheels to guarantee unique and exclusive riding pleasure, together with exceptional stability (helped by the use of wide tubeless tyres) and excellent road holding and safety on all road surfaces.

The clearly motorcycle-style mechanical components and riding position, combined with the extreme riding ease and comfort for both the rider and the passenger, make this the perfect practical mix between motorbike and scooter.

In addition, the exceptional versatility of the Scarabeo represents a genuine revolution in both the motorcycle and scooter worlds. Without compromising about-town use, the scooter can be turned into a genuine “touring bike”, with a range of spacious bags, protection against the wind and weather, and great comfort, whatever the situation. Vice- versa, in town traffic, it is agile, nippy and essential, avoiding traffic problems without being hampered by superfluous volume that would make it less practical.

The sophisticated and highly evolved technology is concealed behind the original and personal image of the Scarabeo 150, where design plays a leading role.

Aprilia has equipped the Scarabeo 150 with the Leonardo engine, further improved and optimised according to the characteristics of this new vehicle. A four-stroke liquid-cooled engine with technical features so sophisticated that even today they are still exclusive (such as the four-valve timing, for example). Despite its high specific horsepower, the Scarabeo 150 is extremely environmentally-friendly, silent and features low exhaust emissions, in compliance with the stringent standards of the EC directive 97/24, Chap. 5, known as EURO 1.

The Scarabeo is without doubt the first “multipurpose” vehicle. A flexible, modular scooter, nippy for about town use, capable and practical for travelling or transport requirements.

A set of bags has been designed specifically for this scooter: a 50-litre rear top box and two 20-litre panniers make SCARABEO a genuine touring bike.

The style of the vehicle and the type of engine used offer a perfect balance between about-town use and short-range travel. An extremely balanced vehicle, it offers unbeatable value for money.
