This result urges us on to step up even further our commitment to being ever more competitive in all segments of the market, from scooters to high capacity motorcycles, the segment on which our range extension programme has concentrated.
For Aprilia, it is important to reach a size threshold enabling us to invest heavily in technological research, made necessary by the rapidly advancing economic globalisation process affecting the motorcycling sector amongst others.
Our acquisition last year of Moto Guzzi and Laverda will thus enable us to pursue our strategic objective to create an important centre of attraction for the motorcycling industry which, backed by the Italian and European tradition, will be able to compete on international markets.
The challenge awaiting us and in which we are ever more heavily committed is that of offering very high quality products, able to guarantee emotions and performance, but also safety, low consumption and reduced pollutant emissions.
For some time now, Aprilia has been in the front line in designing and producing new generation engines and vehicles able to combine the demands of urban and out-of-town mobility with environmental protection, aware that this is yet another area in which motorcycling companies will have to come face to face and demonstrate their ability to compete.
