Special Announcement
Aprilia SXV Supermotard - Race Anywhere, Anytime.

Introduction
Passion, technology and the will to amaze people: Aprilia is back in the Off-Road and does it with a different, daring, innovative motorbike. It seemed impossible to get out of the consolidated technical scheme and the homologated design; instead with the SXV, Aprilia made a revolution in the Off-Road introducing some innovative concepts, unimaginable until now.

Two cylinders, an ultra-compact size, specific high power, lightness, an advanced frame, technological solutions never seen before in this field. A technology choice that led Aprilia to the victory in S2 Supermoto World Champion with Jerome Giraudo.

Technical Details and Innovation
V-twin engine: a choice meant to gain as power as possible and to increase the use range.

The sophisticated electronic system of the engine, developped by the Aprilia Racing Department, introduces several news.

The driving shaft is extremely compact and light, which allows the engine to be sensitive as the fuel opens. On the other hand, the bike is fast and easy to handle thanks to the low gyroscopic effect. Moreover, on deceleration the typical inertia of high bores and strokes is minimized.

The Aprilia advanced know how allows to prevent from the space restrictions of the twin-cylinder and created a true miracle of compactness. Infact, the size of this twin-cylinder is even smaller than that of the standard single-cylinder now on the market. An incredible job that leads to solutions such as a head single camshaft distibution to gather compactness, lightness and performance.
Each single part of the engine is optimized not only to reach the best performance, but also to assure the most silent form, so as to observe immediately the law phonometer limits. Particular care is also taken to limit polluting emissions.
Last but not least, the weight reaches the best this kind of engine can make, though provided with electrical starter. To reach such a result ultra-light and noble materials are used. The central casing is made of aluminium silicon alloy, all covers are made of magnesium and all valves are made of titanium. Finally, all gears are definitely lighter.

Here are some records:

Displacement: 450 cc.
Architecture: 77° V-twin-cylinder
Distribution: head single camshaft operated by silent chain, four titan valves per cylinder
Starter: electric
Gearbox: front connections, 4 / 5 speeds
Clutch: multidisc in oil bath operated by hydraulic or mechanical system
Powerful and compact, the generator is able to assure energy enough for the ignition system, the electrical starter, for battery re-charge and for the job of the auxiliary devices.
Lubrication: separated double circuit. The engine oil is separated from the transmission oil. The pressure oil circuit has a paper cartridge filter, a recovery tank and a one-way valve.
Forced liquid cooled with centrifugal pump.

Aprilia goes on, and the 450cc engine goes over the future, even the future of competition rules. A smaller displacement makes it easier to observe the phonometer limits expected for the coming years, and a totally electronic-operated engine allows better emissions, which is extremely important when talking about off-road and competition bikes.

While showing a plain design, very little plastic superstructure makes the functionality and the mass reduction possible. Strong and marked lines give an idea of lightness and manufacturing quality at the same time.

The tail and backside design is innovative and deviates from the standard image of the off-road vehicles. The same can be said for the central positioning of the split exhaust system under the back mudguard.

The fixed conveyors design makes the fuel tank horizontally pivoted to allow easier access and easier job on the electronical components and the engine.
The design has affected the idea and manufacturing of any part of the bike, even the mechanical ones.

The perimeter frame with aluminium pillars is not only a structure component but also a significant part of the bike design.
