LIVERMORE HOLIDAY SIGHTS & SOUNDS PARADE AND TREE LIGHTING

Kick-off the Holiday Season by joining us for the
LIVERMORE HOLIDAY SIGHTS & SOUNDS PARADE AND TREE LIGHTING

We’ll start the afternoon with a 1-hour Spyder Ryde, followed by Spyder decorating at California Speed-Sports. We’ll then join the parade as a group. The parade will feature local marching bands, music, light displays, Santa Claus AND US!!! We’ll end the day with pizza at Mountain Mikes, courtesy of California Speed-Sports and BRP.

Date: December 3, 2011

  • 2:00 – 3:00pm: Local Spyder Ryde (45 minutes to an hour). Planned route: California Speed-Sports to Niles Canyon Rd (84) to Palomar to 580 to California Speed-Sports.
  • 3:00 – 4:45pm: Spyder decorating at California Speed-Sports while enjoying hot chocolate, coffee and spiced cider
  • 4:45 – 5:00pm: Travel as a group to the parade staging area
  • 5:00 – 6:00pm: Line up in the staging area and add finishing touches to your decorations, while enjoying more spiced cyder
  • 6:00 – 7:00ish: Spyders on parade
  • 7:30 – whenever: Pizza at Mountain Mikes (courtesy of California Speed-Sports and BRP) 1304 1st Street, Livermore, CA 94550

The parade is a rain or shine event. In the event of rain we’ll still be hosting pizza at Mountain Mikes. The last few years it’s been nippy, so be sure to dress warmly.

Decorating Tips: We’ve used battery-operated lights in the past, but we’ve found 12-volt inverters work best – lets you use your tree or house lights. LED lights work best.

You’re welcome to dress-up in holiday attire, but no Santa Claus outfits. The parade organizers will not let you participate if you are in a Santa Claus outfit – they don’t want to confuse the kids.

We hope to see you there.

SUNDAY

CityBike Day at The Junction Ryde

Meeting Time: 10:00am

Meeting Place: California Speed-Sports, 2310 Nissen Drive, Livermore, CA

Safety Briefing: 10:15am

Departure: 10:30am sharp

On Sunday, May 29th, from 11am to 2pm, CityBike is holding an event at the Junction on Mines Road. Event details are on our Facebook page.

A number of our Spyder customers have asked if we are going to ryde to the event as a group. Kregg and I will be leaving real early so we can get our booth setup. We'd love to have a bunch of you ryde out together though. I suggest you all meet at California Speed-Sports and leave from there. Here's my suggested ryde schedule:

Meeting Time: 10:00am
Meeting Place: California Speed-Sports, 2310 Nissen Drive, Livermore, CA
Safety Briefing: 10:15am
Departure: 10:30am sharp

We'll need two volunteers: One to lead, and the other to trail (in case someone has a problem). We'll provide a short script for the Safety Briefing.

The Junction is located at the intersection of Mines Road & Del Puerto Canyon Road, in Livermore.

MOTORCYCLE SURGEON GENERALS WARNING:
The roads leading to the Junction are technically challenging and among the most demanding on the planet. They are infested with bicyclists, free range cattle, tarantulas, dualie trucks towing fifth-wheel horse trailers, and are hella narrow with no center line. All of the hazards above are frequently found in your path of travel, sometimes together. There are apparently no functional ambulances in the area. Emergency room transport is usually done by helicopter. This road must be treated with respect. This isn't a casual trip to poserville at Alice's Restaurant via silky smooth rolling blacktop. In other words, this road will bite you hard if you aren't paying full and complete attention. Lastly, if you have to choose between your Ultra-Suede Bagger Deluxe and another bike, bring the one with better cornering clearance - or ryde a Spyder.

When we arrive at the Park we have many options. We are free to do as we wish; stop and/or shop at the Visitor Center, go for a hike, walk, whatever you desire. Here's a link to the Park with info for additional information. My link

It would be great a few days before the ryde, or sooner, to know if you are joining us. I'm looking forward to hearing from you, and hope to see you soon.
